Laser cutting machine has entered all walks of life, its unique cutting process characteristics play a crucial role in all industries, in different industries, different materials are applied, and the characteristics of materials are different, so the laser cutting process in different materials also has different choices.
Usually, according to the characteristics of materials, it can be divided into metal materials and non-metal materials. According to this characteristic, the laser cutting machine industry can be divided into two categories: metal laser cutting machine and non-metal laser cutting machine.
1. Non-metallic materials
Organic matter: we all know that laser cutting is to use the high-energy beam to irradiate the workpiece to produce high-temperature molten material for cutting, so the high temperature generated in the process of laser cutting will cause the danger of burning and ignition of organic matter, so nitrogen or air is usually used as auxiliary gas for processing. For example, wood, leather, textiles, cardboard, and other materials can be cut by non-metallic laser cutting machines, but there will be a brown burning phenomenon at the cutting edge.
Synthetic materials: generally refer to artificial rubber, heat hardening materials, thermoplastics, etc. these materials will emit toxic gases in the cutting process, so it is necessary to strengthen protective measures, especially the protection of personal safety.
Therefore, in the laser cutting process of non-metallic materials, we usually adopt the totally closed cutting mode and add the dust-proof air absorption evolution device.
2. Metal materials
Stainless steel: stainless steel material is one of the most widely used metal materials. In the process of laser cutting, an optical fiber laser cutting machine is usually used for processing. Nitrogen, air, and oxygen can be used for processing. In the selection of auxiliary gas, nitrogen has the best processing quality, and the cutting edge has no burr, and no subsequent processing is required. Oxygen processing is selected, and the lower edge will be cut Oxidation phenomenon, black edge, using air cutting quality is the worst, in the processing without special conditions and accuracy requirements are not high premise can choose air as auxiliary gas.
Carbon steel: generally, oxygen is used as auxiliary gas for processing, mainly because oxygen will play a combustion supporting role in the cutting process, which can achieve more efficient cutting, of course, slight oxidation will occur at the cutting edge. When the thickness of cutting material reaches a certain thickness, nitrogen should be selected as the auxiliary gas for high-pressure cutting.
Copper material: it belongs to the material with high reflection and high thermal conductivity. Nitrogen can be used as auxiliary gas below 1mm, but oxygen must be used as auxiliary gas for 2mm. Of course, in the cutting process of highly reflective materials, we must add an emission absorption device, otherwise, it will cause damage to optical materials.
Aluminum material: like copper material, it belongs to the high reflective and thermally conductive material. Aluminum material is cut by a laser cutting machines to a large extent, which depends on the beam quality of the laser. The cutting quality of nitrogen on auxiliary gas is better than that of oxygen. In the same way, it needs to be equipped with an emission device to protect the optical path system.
